Help Free the Royal River
Phase 2: Remove the East Elm Street Dam
The Bridge Street Dam has been removed, and work at the site is nearly complete. This phase of the project is fully funded. Because the Yarmouth Town Council resolved to remove the dams without using property-tax revenue, a coalition of nonprofits is raising funds on behalf of the Town for Phase 2. Estimated at $1.28 million, Phase 2 includes removal of the East Elm Street Dam, restoration monitoring, and related recreation and public safety improvements in Yarmouth and North Yarmouth.
The Royal River Alliance is raising private contributions and writing grants to help close the remaining gap. Donations to the Royal River Alliance are tax-deductible, and both private contributions and grants are currently being matched up to $300,000. Every gift helps move us closer to completing Phase 2 of the Royal River restoration.
